Skirting Traditions Launches for Arizona’s Centennial
4/24/2012It’s only been a couple of months that the anthology Skirting Traditions: Arizona Women Writers and Journalists 1912-2012 was released by a group of authors from the Arizona Press Women, but it has sold over 700 copies and been reported a numerous times in various media.
The editors of the anthology are Brenda Warneka, Carol Hughes, Lois McFarland, June P. Payne, Sheila Roe and Pam Knight Stevenson.
The book, published for the centennial of the state of Arizona (February 14, 2012), has been featured in the following publications: The Arizona Republic, The Arizona Daily Star, The Payson Roundup, The Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, The National Federation of Press Women Agenda, The Frank Lloyd Wright Quarterly Journal, A Traveler’s Diary, The Arizona State University News site, www.examiner.com, www.azcentennial.gov, and www.AZ100Years.org. The book was featured in a segment on “Horizon” on Eight, Arizona PBS TV, and received coverage by KMOG radio in Payson, AZ.
On April 20, the co-editors had a booth selling the anthology at the Arizona Centennial Conference (annual Arizona Historical Society convention) and participated in a panel discussion.
