Making the Dream a Reality
January 21, 2010 by Kat Gautreaux, Account Manager
How’s your book coming along? Did it get saved to your computer desktop before Thanksgiving, only to be left there lingering over the holidays? Is your computer offering to delete the folder along with all your other unused icons?
You need a push! This is the year you can finish your book! In fact, if you are writing a nonfiction book to help underscore your expertise for your business, you cannot afford to ignore your manuscript a moment longer!
Becoming a published author is a dream that many people have. The ones who are trying to make that dream a reality learn quickly that it requires discipline. Not just to finish the book, but to do the work it requires to help make the book a success.
Have you signed up for our free 7 Steps to Publishing Success minicourse? The training you receive from that course can help you outline your plans for your book. Is your book a “message to the world” book? Or is it designed to support your business?
Are you waiting for your book to be finished before starting your marketing efforts? The time to start is now! Where is your audience? If you haven’t honed in on your target audience and started communicating with them and building up your platform of future readers, then you have some work to do.
Of course, you should never schedule a signing or other book-related event before you have your printed copy in hand. However, there are lots of ways to begin networking with your future readers and clients.
The Internet can provide you with easy-access channels in the way of forums, blogs, and other websites. How did you do the research for you book? Those same sites online are great places to begin networking and building an audience for your book.
Wheatmark can help you get started. We have many free resources to assist you in planning your path to publishing success. Check out our website’s resources area for blog posts, videos, articles, and tutorials that will keep you on track!
Now is the time to begin!
