Description

Growing up on a sharecropping plantation in Mississippi without a father, Nate Lowe endured physical and emotional abuse amid extreme poverty and crushing discrimination. He turned to alcohol and drugs at an early age to deaden his pain, but never lost his desire to make something of his life.

To Be Somebody is the story of a young man who, through a strong will to succeed and the help of teachers and mentors who believed in him, overcame extraordinary obstacles to realize his dreams.
