Editorial Services

Wheatmark offers a variety of editorial services such as an editorial analysis for your manuscript, several levels of copyediting, developmental editing, proofreading, and indexing.

Additional Publishing Services

Many of the services below are included in our publishing packages. After selecting the right package for your book, you can further customize it by adding any of the following services:

Additional Format - $499
You can have your book available for distribution in an additional format such as a hardcover. For a hardcover, you will have a choice of either a dust jacket version or a casebound version. You will receive one sample copy of the additional format. The hardcover option is available only for books that are more than 108 pages and are either 5.5 x 8.5, 6 x 9, or 7 x 10 inches in size. (If you have previously selected a hardcover format with your publishing package, you can later add a paperback version as the additional format.)

Custom Cover Design - $299
Your book editor will select and purchase the high-resolution image or images (stock photographs or stock art) to be used in your book’s cover design. Your book editor will take into account what you are looking for and what will enhance your book’s marketability.

Printed Page & Cover Proofs - $39
Receive a printed proof by mail for your approval before publication. Free electronic proofs are sent via email.

Image/Table Placement - $299 for up to 25
If your manuscript contains images, photographs, drawings, tables, or charts, calculate $299 for each block of 25. (For example, calculate $299 for 1–25 interior images and $598 for 26–50 images. Note: The table of contents, which is free of charge, is not considered a table.) Images must be provided in computer files of the format we specify. See our online help documentation for preparing your digital image files. You must also have permission or the legal right to use the images that are submitted.

Footnotes/Endnotes - $99
You need this option if you have either footnotes or endnotes, regardless of how many. Your book editor will include the footnotes or endnotes that you provide, using an industry-standard style. Note: Footnotes and endnotes must be prepared using your word processor’s automated footnote/endnote feature. Do not enter and number your footnotes manually. (See I have footnotes and/or endnotes in my book. How should I include them? in Help/FAQ for information on how to prepare and submit your footnotes or endnotes.)

Index Inclusion - $299
Choose this option if you do not need us to create an index for you, but will provide your own index based on the paginated proof. The index is an alphabetized list of names or subjects that appears at the end of a nonfiction book and gives page numbers for each entry in the book. The index is not the same as the table of contents, which appears at the beginning of the book. (See I will have an index in my book. How should I send it to you? Complex Interior Layout - $499
This service provides the complicated interior layout your book needs. If your book has many or frequently alternating paragraph styles, a considerable number of bulleted or ordered lists, double columns, cross-references, or custom headers or footers, you will need complex interior layout. This service is included in our Level 3 package.

Marketing Products and Services

Wheatmark offers a variety of book marketing products and services to help you market your book, such as postcards, business cards, bookmarks, and online press kits. A wide range of additional marketing and publicity services are also available through Wheatmark's partners and affiliates.
