Nora Mahon Olivares was born in Longford, Ireland but has spent over forty years in the US, mostly in San Antonio, Texas where she currently lives with her husband Horacio and two grandchildren. She graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a B.A. in English and Latin and from Fordham University, New York with an M.A. in English. She did her post-graduate work at the University of Texas in San Antonio. She is Professor Emeritus of English at San Antonio College where she taught for twenty-five years and had the distinction of being nominated six times for the Piper Award for Teaching Excellence.
