Ahuva Batya (Constance) Scharff is a researcher, storyteller, and international explorer who studies human resilience and mental health. As founder and director of The Human Resilience Project, she leads expeditions to remote communities worldwide to understand how people confront trauma, conflict, and climate-driven upheaval, sharing those insights to help broaden global mental healthcare and integrate Indigenous and complementary healing practices. In an era when research is often dismissed, she turned to fiction to reach people in a different way. The Path to God’s Promise grew from her belief that story can restore agency, shift behavior, and inspire the kind of personal and collective transformation her work advocates. Drawing on Jewish tradition and her long engagement with spiritual growth and communal responsibility, she uses narrative to confront the twin crises of climate change and mental health, offering a path toward courage, purpose, and hope. An award-winning author and recipient of St. Lawrence University’s Sol Feinstone Humanitarian Award, she continues to speak globally on resilience, non-Western mental health practice, and the power of reimagining our futures, on the page and in the world.
