“Exchanging hurt for hope,” is Sheryl Giesbrecht’s focus. She is a radio personality, author, and speaker. A pastor’s wife for over twenty-eight years, mother of two adult children, cancer survivor, and widow, she is passionate about sharing how God takes the ashes of our losses, bitterness, and mistakes; and turns them into something remarkably beautiful.

Sheryl is a dynamic teacher and motivating leader who has equipped hundreds and facilitated the training of thousands of leaders in the United States and internationally. Sheryl’s own story began with her conversion to Christ over thirty years ago. Once a rebellious teenager, alcoholic, and drug addict, Sheryl knows what it is to overcome physical addictions. In ministry and leadership, Sheryl has endured changes and challenges, moving her to a deep faith, trust, and dependence on God. Healed of stage 4 lymphoma, Sheryl knows the heartbreak of disappointment, discouragement, and disease. Recently widowed, Sheryl has walked through the valley of the shadow of death. From the depths of these experiences, her desire is for believers to be set free from past hurts, to be healed and whole emotionally.

As Focus on the Family’s columnist for Pastor’s Wives for four years, Sheryl’s audio interview with H. B. London on the topic, “Success in Ministry, Call to Ministry,” continues to be offered through Focus on the Family’s Pastor’s Family Resources. Hundreds of her columns, magazine and devotional articles have appeared in Focus on the Family Magazine, Just Between Us, Discipleship Journal, Contemporary Christian Music, Walk Thru the Bible’s – InDeed and Tapestry publications.

Sheryl’s radio show, Kindred Moments can be heard each weekday evening and Sunday afternoon on KAXL 88.3 FM Music for Life. (http://www.KAXL.com) Her nationally syndicated radio show, Turn up the Music with Sheryl Giesbrecht is heard on numerous networks across the United States. (http://www.KERN.com).

Sheryl is avid about reaching out to the poor and needy, locally through the Rescue Mission and world-wide through Compassion International.

Sheryl is the Executive Director of International Christian Ministries (ICM), which trained over two million African leaders in 2008. She carries the baton, mobilizing believers to come alongside to facilitate training African and Middle Eastern pastors and leaders as it was passed to her by her late husband, Paul, former vice president of international operations with ICM. She is a sought-after international speaker, offering the hope and healing only found in the Lord Jesus Christ. (http://www.ICMUSA.org)

The joys of Sheryl’s life are her two children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, plus memories of her beloved husband. Sheryl holds a bachelor of arts from Biola University, a master’s in ministry, and a doctorate of theology.

Description

Life is not always easy or fair for the follower of Christ. Yet, Sheryl Giesbrecht has learned, from the depths of past pain, it is possible to be raised up. It is possible to heal. Most importantly, it is possible to exchange hurt for hope. In her inspirational new book, Get Back Up: Trusting God When Life Knocks You Down, Sheryl tells her own story. She uses scripture to tell the stories of so many other Biblical figures who stumbled before they could be helped up.

Sheryl’s message is one of hope. Trusting God in the midst of a life turned upside down is essential to survival. Without Him, life would not be worth living. Climbing out of the pits of despair would be impossible. Yes, with God to lean on, finding hope is possible. Healing is possible.
