Stuart Furman has been a member of the State Bar for the state of California and has been practicing law since 1981. He was accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs as an accredited VA attorney in 2009. Mr. Furman’s law practice has concentrated on elder law issues, including long-term care for seniors, planning for veterans and accessing VA benefits, Medi-Cal/Medicaid pre-planning and accessing Medi-Cal and Medicaid benefits, living trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advanced medical directives, and other peripheral issues.

Mr. Furman has educated nurses, discharge planners, and social workers in many Southern California hospitals. He has appeared as a guest on several radio programs in Southern California. Mr. Furman has spoken for numerous organizations around California and has offered continuing education credits for real estate agents and brokers, board-and-care administrators, CPAs, EAs, and other professionals.

Mr. Furman is vice chair and sits on the board of directors of a large Visiting Nurses Association and hospice organization in Southern California. He is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, ElderCounsel, the San Diego Society of Human Resource Management (SDSHRM), and is on the legislative committee for SDSHRM. In his personal life, he has enjoyed his marriage to his wife Jayne for more than twenty-three years. He is an accomplished violinist, having begun the study of music at the age of nine. He has sat on the board of directors of several musical organizations and performed as a member of several professional orchestras across the United States.

Mr. Furman is available to speak about planning for eldercare, eldercare legal issues, long-term care planning, and general eldercare topics at your company HR department and to your employees, community center, assisted living community, radio or television program, or other appropriate venues or events.
